Privacy Policy

    The short version: your health data is stored anonymously and cannot be linked back to you. Your name and login are kept in a separate table from your wellness logs. We don't sell your data. You can delete your account at any time.
  

1. What Sage is

Sage is an AI wellness companion that helps you log and understand your gut-health patterns — food, mood, sleep, exercise, symptoms, and cravings. It is not a medical service, and nothing in the app constitutes medical advice or a diagnosis.

2. What we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

Account information: username, email address, and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
Wellness logs: food entries, symptom reports, sleep records, mood check-ins, exercise notes, and cravings you submit through the app.
Conversation history: your chat messages with Sage, stored to provide continuity across sessions.

We do not collect IP addresses beyond what is necessary for rate limiting, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

3. How your data is separated

This is the most important thing to understand about how Sage handles your data:

Your account credentials (username, email) are stored in a separate table from your health logs. The two tables are linked only by a randomly generated anonymous ID — not your name, email, or any identifying information. If the health log database were ever extracted in isolation, it would contain no information that could identify you.

4. How we use your data

To provide Sage's core features: logging, trend analysis, and personalized AI responses.
To send transactional emails you request: account verification, password resets.
Anonymized wellness logs may be used to identify aggregate health trends and improve the product. This analysis cannot be linked back to individual users.

We do not sell, share, or rent your data to any third party.

5. AI processing

AI-generated insights in Sage are produced using Claude, an AI service provided by Anthropic, PBC. When you send a message, the wellness context of that conversation is transmitted to Anthropic's API for processing. We do not send your account information (username or email) to Anthropic — only the conversation content needed to answer your question. Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by their own policy: anthropic.com/privacy.

6. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, your username, email, and login credentials are permanently deleted. Your anonymized wellness logs are retained — they are no longer linked to you in any way and cannot be traced back to you.

You can export all your wellness data at any time from the chat interface before closing your account.

7. Cookies and sessions

Sage uses a single signed session cookie to keep you logged in. No third-party cookies are set. Sessions expire after 24 hours of inactivity.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed using PBKDF2-SHA256 with a unique salt per user. All traffic is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. The database is stored on a server with restricted access.

9. Children

Sage is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Your rights

You can:

Export your wellness data at any time from the app.
Close your account to delete your identifying information.
Contact us to ask questions about your data.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
